The students – James Humphrey (Junior, Bass Clarinet), Andrew Marino (Junior, Mallets), Gianna Lodato (Sophomore, Percussion) and Logan Bogumil (Sophomore, Clarinet) – participated remotely over the two day event, which included clinics, rehearsals, and then a final recording, which will be prepared for a virtual concert later this year. The event was held under the direction of Conductor, Dr. Joseph Higgins and the Rowan University Band Faculty.

During the weekend, the students also participated in instrumental sectionals, as well as engaged in an interactive workshop with composer Nicole Piunno.

“The Rowan Windfest was a great opportunity for our students to participate in an Honor Band and continue to get high quality musical experiences despite the cancellation of many of our annual state-run events,” said West Essex Band Director Mr. Fabrizio. “Rowan has a strong music department and they facilitated an opportunity for excellent high school musicians to stay connected. James, Andrew, Gianna, and Logan are all strong performers in the Honors Level of Symphonic Winds this year. They are also some of the many West Essex students who have auditioned and have been accepted into New Jersey’s Area, Region, and/or All-State Band in the past.”

Congratulations to all!
